Lt. Michael S. Anders was a Navy SEAL team leader prior to his inexplicable disappearance during a helicopter crash in the Hindu Kush. Since his body was never found, he's listed as missing and presumed captured or killed by the Taliban, but he's actually no longer on Earth. Seconds before the crash, he was pulled into another universe, one where perhaps his skills are even more needed than in the one he left.
